My journey began in the mid-80s when I started making and selling mixtapes in high school. As soon as I began driving, I developed a strong passion for car audio, which led to my first job in 1987 as a car stereo installer. Over time, I transitioned into sales, expanding my focus to include home audio and video products. I quickly realized that the demand for home electronics was rapidly surpassing that of car audio. In September 2003, I left my previous company to start Main Line Sound & Video, deciding to dedicate myself entirely to the home electronics industry. Building lasting relationships with clients over the years has been incredibly rewarding, especially seeing their reactions when they experience the results of our team's work for the first time—it’s truly priceless. I am also deeply proud and grateful to have assembled such a talented and passionate team. Each member shares a commitment to excellence and a genuine care for delivering their best every day.

I have been with Main Line Sound and Video (MLSV) since its inception in 2003. I have known the owner, Pete Colabelli, since 1989 when we worked together in the car audio industry. Throughout my college career I continued in the car audio field. Kind of a dream job- high end cars and working with my hands. After college, I explored the corporate world but still had the hankering to work with my hands. When Pete decided to open MLSV, I jumped at the chance to contribute to a startup company in a field I enjoyed. What has kept me going all these years? One, the small business charm where I believe I can make a difference. Two, the joy I see in a child’s eyes or in an entire family when a new TV and game system is set up, or a surround sound theater is completed. I have not experienced that satisfaction or sense of accomplishment in any other industry. Truly makes each and every day enjoyable.

Nicholas Vail is a lifelong learner with 22 years of experience and absolute lifelong fan in this industry. Growing up in this industry has changed quite a bit over time. With the introduction of home automation which seemed to change everything years ago. I, no longer, was subjected to a field of past. I am, now, in HVAC control, residential electric, networking and WiFi, security/surveillance, home audio including whole house stereo and dedicated 2ch systems, theater design, lighting design and control, elevator aspects, carpentry, shades and control, outdoor entertainment, sensors, customer service all in hopes to grab your daily activity and automate it or provide a user experience specific to you. There are priorities and/or goals for every individual. Being able to present that as a finished product is always a great feeling.
I pride myself in constantly being receptive as the technology progresses in direction. Best practices and engage in groups of a similar fashion in my free time. I have done all aspects of this industry including sales/system design, project management, social media via picture and editing video, installation, change orders, resale, billing and product completion.
I love how much this industry changes. It never gets old but more importantly the relationships that are created.
I have other hobbies including occupying sustainable tropical gardens in my zone 5b, the automotive industry and all automobiles, and just building/creating in general.
